William Preston Corderman (1904-1998) was born in Hagerstown, Maryland. After his graduation from West Point in 1926, he commissioned in the Signal Corps. He earned a Master of Science degree from Yale University in 1927. He graduated from Command and General Staff School in 1939 and joined the War Department General Staff in the same year. From 1943 to 1946, he was commanding general of the Army Security Agency. He made brigadier general in June 1945. After World War II, he reverted to the rank...
